Wow, it is crazy to hear that you need to pay for a tool to sort this out. Then again, maybe the issue was actually complicated or otherwise insidious and this might just be the tool for the job. If what you are doing hasn't changed meaningfully from 2016, then the computer should still work reasonably well.
Really, aside from some high-end games and the insane amount of memory used to load all the ads on many modern sites, the core problem of desktop computing hasn't changed much in quite some time.
Good to hear that you are writing frequently, these days. I know that it is something I should spend more time, as well (I even contemplated making a Cacophony channel on my desktop - most channels are based on my laptop - just to make it more appealing to spend more time in that).
Have you been really finding difficulty in reading, these days? Is this just close focus problems? I know that my eyes aren't what they used to be and I started to notice close objects staying out of focus around the time I turned 40. I always wonder if forcing yourself to continue reading, despite that (not pulling away or getting reading glasses), is a good way to combat that aspect of aging.
Anyway, good to see that your channel is sorted out after the recent problem. I still am not quite sure how that problem happens, if it is a subtle Windows-specific thing or an actual invalid assumption in the logic.
