Been awhile since I've written here. Probably because there's not much going on.
I fixed the slowness of my computer by downloading and running a program called Fortect. My dvd software now starts up and the computer is much faster in general. I deleted Steam, Webex, EA games app and Facebook Messenger (which was making it slow on startup) and that pretty much fixed the problem. I deleted and sorted most of my old downloads since they just sit there in the downloads directory usually. It's good now.
Also Fortect tells you how old your computer is - 2016, so it's going on 10 years not 12. Glad I saw that. The program costs $50 a year but is worth it, since I just got it and ran it 3 times so far, it also picks up malware. I don't actually have a virus protector on my computer, I found that it did run faster and better without one until now.

Other things, on the writing front, I'm enjoying Substack. I wrote a 3-part personal essay about my dad's death and the aftermath that I submitted to two literary journals, so we'll see where that goes.
I've been writing almost every day lately. Went to a beautiful online writing workshop my friend Mara June facilitated called "Grief Portals", Mara is a grief counsellor.
Last time I went to my psychiatrist, I was frustrated that I couldn't read offline. So she suggested large print books, ebooks and audiobooks. I am currently reading (6 chapters in) a book by Alex Michaelides called The Maidens, it's large print, and a fiction book about the intersection of grief and greek mythology. Really good.
I think I'm ready for Christmas now. :) We are putting up our Christmas tree this week.
My supervisor Jay came back, so I am working as well albeit only 5 hours a week but it's something.
